CASE STUDY: GREENWICH, CT
Squirrel Exclusion Done Right After Paying Another Company Twice
A Greenwich homeowner had paid another wildlife company twice in two years to remove squirrels from the attic. Each time the squirrels returned within months. Our inspection found that the prior work had used spray foam and steel wool across roughly 40 feet of roof edge, all of which had been chewed apart and pulled out by new squirrels.
We stripped the old materials, rebuilt every area properly, and extended protection along the entire rear and sides of the home. We left two key entry points open and at this point the trapping was successfully completed. After sealing off the remaining areas we coached the homeowner on how to remove feeding sources to minimize the quantity of animals in their yards generally. No more squirrels, seven years and counting.
CASE STUDY: RIDGEFIELD, CT
A Nursing Raccoon Above a Master Suite
A Ridgefield family heard movement "like a small dog" above their primary bedroom for weeks before calling. A large female raccoon had torn open an attic vent and taken residence above the master suite. Insulation was ripped apart and contaminated with urine and raccoon droppings. She had a nest of babies in the corner of the attic. We trapped her and removed the babies by hand, taking the entire family to a wildlife rehabilitator.
The homeowner's insurance covered the full cleanup and bacterial remediation after the raccoons were gone. Since the homeowner did not need access to the attic space we decided to schedule the bacterial remediation work approximately one year later, to allow time for the feces to desiccate and for some of the more aggressive parasite dangers to be neutralized. Timing the bacterial mitigation is a personal choice, and one that we always make with the homeowner to maximize the safety of everyone involved.
